A Lagos State governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, on Friday attended the Special Easter Service of the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) held at the church’s National Headquarters on Church Street, Makoko, Lagos.
The special Good Friday service was conducted by His Eminence, Rev. Emmanuel Mobiyina Friday Oshoffa, Pastor and Spiritual Head of the Celestial Church of Christ Worldwide.
Ajose was accompanied by members of the SMA Advisory/Strategic Council, including Chief Rasheed Shobaloju, Hon. Rafeequat Arinola Onabamiro and Hon. Apesin Bola Gbabinjo.
The governorship hopeful also donated food items to members of the congregation during the visit.
Speaking with journalists after the service, Ajose described Good Friday as a deeply symbolic day for the Celestial Church and said the service at the church’s national headquarters underscored the spiritual significance of the occasion.
“Today is Good Friday, and this day is very symbolic to the Celestial Church of Christ.
“This is the first church of the Celestial Church in Nigeria and also the seat of the overall head of the church worldwide.
“It is always a privilege to be here for this service and to celebrate Good Friday with the church,” he said.
Ajose noted that the presence of pastors and leaders of the church from different parts of the world reflected the importance of the annual service.
“You can see that pastors and leaders of the church from across the world are here for this special service.
“That tells you how significant this gathering is to the Celestial Church family,” he said.
The APC aspirant, who hails from Badagry Division, said the prayers offered by the church leadership were encouraging and expressed optimism about his political aspiration.
“The pastor prayed for us, and we all heard the messages and blessings that came with the service.
“As a son of Badagry, and as someone with roots in this church community, I can say the church is solidly behind us,” he said.
Ajose also urged the leadership of the APC to take note of the level of support he enjoys among members of the church and in Badagry Division ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
“We have heard that the church has over 3.5 million members and leaders.
“Imagine what that could translate to in terms of support and votes for the APC.
“We are appealing to the leadership of the APC to look at the figures, look at the people behind us, and let us see the positive outcome that can come in 2027,” he said.
Ajose reaffirmed his commitment to engaging critical stakeholders and faith-based communities as part of consultations on his governorship ambition.
