Badagry ex-chairman hails massive turnout at apc presidential primaries

The former Chairman of Badagry Local Government and House of Representatives candidate for Badagry Federal Constituency, Mr Olusegun Onilude, has described the turnout at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries in Badagry as massive and a reflection of support for President Bola Tinubu.

Onilude, who spoke with journalists after voting, said the exercise had remained peaceful and orderly across the constituency.

He said the successful conduct of the previous rounds of the primaries showed that the final exercise would also end smoothly.

“So far, it has been good. We did the first one, it was good, the second one was good and nothing went wrong. Definitely, this final one will be a culmination of all the good ones we have done,” he said.

The APC chieftain said residents of Badagry Federal Constituency turned out in large numbers to demonstrate loyalty to Tinubu, whom he described as their leader and mentor.

“The turnout was so massive. I had thought the first one would be the biggest, but what I saw on the field today was electrifying.

“It shows the love our people have for our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“From Seme to Badagry Town, Ajara, Ikoga, Iworo, Morogbo and other communities, the crowd was massive and they have shown their love for our leader,” he said.

Onilude expressed confidence that the same level of support recorded in Badagry would be replicated across Lagos State and the country.

“With this turnout in Badagry, that is how the entire Lagos will be, and I am very sure throughout the federation the turnout will also be massive.

“I am congratulating him in advance because he has won in Badagry and I am sure he will win across the federation,” he said.

The former council chairman, who recently emerged as APC House of Representatives candidate for Badagry Federal Constituency, also commended the party leadership for providing what he described as a level playing field during the primaries.

He thanked President Tinubu, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, party leaders and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) for ensuring an open and transparent process.

According to him, the direct primary system allowed party members to freely choose candidates of their choice.

“It was an open contest. Every member was given the opportunity to vote according to their conscience and they exercised it freely.

“We should be magnanimous in victory and those who did not emerge should not see themselves as failures because opportunity still abounds in our party,” he said.

Onilude urged APC members to unite after the primaries and work together toward the 2027 general elections.

“After these primaries, we should bury the hatchet of politicking and know that our party is one and supreme.

“This is when the real contest begins because other political parties are preparing to challenge us, so we must remain united,” he said.
